Advanced Fraud Prevention Layers
Chargeback indicators, card updater software, and embedded fraud detection working together
Chargeback Indicator Alerts
Receive early warning alerts when a customer initiates a dispute—before the chargeback is filed. Resolve issues proactively and protect your revenue.
Network Tokenization
Replace sensitive card numbers with secure network tokens. Tokens auto-update when cards change, reducing fraud risk and improving authorization rates.
Card Updater Software
Automatically update stored card details when customers receive replacement cards. Fewer declines, fewer false fraud flags, and smoother recurring payments.
Embedded Fraud Prevention
Fraud detection built directly into your payment flow—not bolted on. Keep your brand experience seamless while blocking bad actors in real time.
Fraud and dispute resources for merchants
Plain-English references our team uses with merchants when reviewing how transactions are accepted, verified and documented.
How this works in practice
At the counter
In person, EMV chip and tap transactions are validated and encrypted at the point of dip or tap before any card data reaches the network, which is why chip and contactless transactions carry different liability treatment than a swiped card. Online and keyed transactions run through tokenization so the full card number is never stored on your systems after the sale.
Hardware compatibility
Fraud tools are built into the processing platform, not a separate box — they apply to Clover, PAX, and compatible terminals for card-present sales, and to the virtual terminal and ecommerce checkout for card-not-present sales.
Connectivity and offline behavior
Real-time risk scoring and 3D Secure checks require the transaction to reach the processor at authorization time, which is standard for any card transaction; there is no separate offline fraud-check mode since authorization itself requires connectivity.
Staffing and training
Staff don't configure fraud settings — that's handled at the account level. What staff do need to know is how to handle a declined or flagged transaction at the counter (request another form of ID or payment) without assuming fraud on every decline, since declines can also be a bank-side hold.
Migrating your existing setup
If you're switching from another processor, your prior chargeback history doesn't transfer, but we review your recent statement to understand your dispute rate and recommend which fraud tools (3D Secure, chargeback alerts) are worth enabling from day one.
Who this fits
Any business taking card-not-present payments (phone, mail, ecommerce) where fraud exposure is highest, plus card-present retailers with higher-ticket goods where a stolen card is more costly per incident.
